President of College Board to Step Down in 2012

Mr. Caperton has presided over a period of enormous growth at the College Board, as the number of students who took one of its exams or its courses grew to over 7 million last year, compared with 3 million in 1999, the organization said in a statement. Among his accomplishments, the board said, was tripling the number of “low-income students” who take at least one Advanced Placement course.

Medical Transcription is highly specialized field and requires certain skills and training. Medical transcription a process where a person accurately and promptly transcribes medical records dictated by doctors and others. The dictation will include medical history and physical reports, clinic notes, office notes, operative reports, consultation notes, discharge summaries, letters, evaluations, lab reports, etc. Transcriptionists receive dictation by tape, digital system or voice files, and then use earphones and a foot pedal for start-stop control along with a word processing program. There are several word-processing systems that are used. This job requires exceptional listening and language skills, computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology. Many medical transcriptionists work from home-based offices as employees or subcontractors for hospitals and transcription services, or are self-employed as independent contractors.

Transcriptionists need to complete postsecondary training through vocational schools, community colleges, and distance-learning programs. It is highly recommended for medical transcriptionists to complete a 1-year certificate program or 2-year associate degree that encompasses work in anatomy, medical terminology, legality in healthcare documentation, and grammar and punctuation in English.

To help college-bound students manage their budgets, Chase offers resources to guide students on how to manage their finances responsibly from the first day of class to graduation, and beyond.

Financial Management

Before they fill their schedules with biology, economics and philosophy, encourage your college-bound students to make room for Financial Management 101, an important life “curriculum,” as they go through the school year.

These tips from Chase will help your students get a passing financial grade and may even land them on the financial honor roll:

Create a budget for the school year-and stick to it.
- List out all your income/ loan disbursements
- List out all your expenses
- Make sure A is greater than expenses.
- Check this on a monthly basis to make sure you’re on track.
Know your budget and credit limit before you spend.
Keep track of all purchases and plan your use of credit cards.
To avoid late fees and build a positive credit history, always pay all your bills on time.

Learning to handle their own finances can be one of life’s most important lessons for your students.
